What is an EHO (Environmental Health Officer)?

EHO’s work to reduce and mitigate health hazards caused by our surrounding environment.

They assess health risks in the environment and develop, regulate, enforce and monitor laws governing public health in order to uphold and advance good environmental practices and human health.

Areas monitored and managed by EHO’s:

  • Food business inspections

  • Public Building Inspections

  • Effluent disposal applications

  • Hairdressers/skin penetration

  • Infectious disease investigations

  • Caravan Parks

  • Water – Pools, potable and recreational

  • Food Sampling

  • Lodging Houses

  • Mosquitoes

  • Contaminated Sites
